Methane Gas
MSDS
Methane is a chemical compound that is highly flammable, non-toxic, non-corrosive, colorless, and odorless in its pure form. It has a boiling point of -161.4°C (-258.6°F). Methane is primarily a natural gas that is found underground in coal fields and natural gas fields. While it is also present in the atmosphere, its concentration is very low. Methane can be produced or collected from biogas plants or wastewater sludge treatment plants. In its gaseous form at standard pressure and temperature, methane is highly unstable. To facilitate storage and transportation, it is liquefied for ease and safety of handling. The liquefied gas is then transferred into Methane Gas Cylinders and supplied to diverse industries and laboratories for their respective uses.
Methane gas is available in different purity grades and concentrations to meet the specific requirements of diverse industries. Methane is primarily used as a source of energy for various applications.

Here are some common uses and applications of Methane gas in industries:
1. Fuel gas in gas turbines and steam generators to generate electricity.
2. Fuel gas in automobiles: Methane is a major component of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) used to power vehicles.
3. Fuel gas in gas generators.
4. Rocket fuel in the spacecraft industry.
5. Industrial component for the manufacturing of ammonia, fertilizers, and explosives.
6. Calibration gas mixture: Methane can be mixed with an inert or carrier gas for the calibration and testing of laboratory or research-grade instruments.
